Decades ago, ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Star Trek’ enjoyed high viewership globally. There are still many trekkies out there, perhaps even in this readership. For both movies and television shows, Star Trek began with the iconic words;
SPACE : the final frontier
These are the voyages of the Starship, Enterprise . Its 5-year mission:
To explore strange new worlds
To seek out new life and new civilizations
To boldly go where no man has gone before…
In Star Trek, our heroes encounter new life forms, some hostile, some friendly, some familiar. Very familiar. And each encounter brought its own adventure. Relying on the Captain, Spok, and each other; our heroes made life in the great out there which proved to be much more than nothingness and black holes.
But there are (not so) new arguments which suggest that Space is not the final frontier. Several persons have postulated that thanks to the Cold War and technology, Space is no longer the final frontier for the intrepid soul. What with genetic engineering and other technologies; the marvels of Star Trek are almost normative for the average adventurous human.
Have we considered that Life, is in fact, uncharted territory? That surviving each day is the Ultimate Adventure? Because although we each experience Life; our every journey is different. Even if we are twins or triplets. Yet, we each in our own way, go where no one has ever gone before; and often our experiences feel like strange new worlds which we are trying to fathom.
Today’s Holy Nougat assures is that we are not entirely alone. For, like the heroes and heroines of Star Trek; we not only have each other on this journey aboard God’s Enterprise; we can turn to our Captain; the One Who charts our course and knows the Way (Who IS the Way); to guide us by The Holy Spirit.
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” Psalms 16:11 NLT
Thus, empowered and encouraged by this promise; we face the day; finding joy in the knowledge that when we’re lost; Christ KNOWS the Way.
