Hello dear
A friend of mine loves to talk about the Barnabbases in life, and the impact such people have on others. Are you a Barnasdass? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“Therefore encourage and comfort one another and build up one another, just as you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 AMP
As the son (daughter) of encouragement, Barnabbas transformed the life of a young convert who later prepared and wrote one of the Gospel books. His encouragement moved a happy go lucky Mark from being a blight on Paul (who fired him) to becoming a blessing to the Church of the Living God. Mark might have eventually come into his own; but the act of affirmation must surely have made a difference.
Encouragement sweetens our labors, reminding us that we are not alone and that what we do makes a difference. And while we don’t work solely for rewards, the encouragement surely helps. Just think, someone’s kind words might incentivize you when the going gets rough; or provide the basis to launch out on our own professionally.
So how about it – can we be a point of encouragement for someone today? A reminder to them that their existence truly matters? Not out of pity, not out of fakeness, but from a genuine desire to lift someone up and boost their morale. I’d like to propose that we try to catch someone doing good and quietly (or publicly) affirm their action. In a world bogged down by stress and negativity, the word of encouragement may just make their day.
And, as strange as it may sound, as much as we don’t NEED to do so, I propose that we practice by praising God for what God has done for us lately. And having praised God, then look around in our work, friends and family circles to spread the blessings of encouragement. If possible, encourage a sister or brother in the faith. And definitely, top up with a prayer (whispered or out loud).
Doable? Doable. Let’s do this!
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
