Nougat 24

We pause

for the hundreds of lives disrupted by the deaths In Mecca. May their families find solace and may we find ways to be comfort to those who mourn.

Here’s today’s nougat

And forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation. Luke 11.4

We’ve received exactly what we need for the physical. But there’s a slight caveat. Alongside our daily bread, we crave forgivenes. It isn’t a matter of daily bread because our proclivity (natural tendency to act upon the impulse) to sin is such that we do not wish to consider the possibility of a statute of limitations on our being forgiven.

In the natural world and under the laws therein, a statute of limitations refers to the amount of time which can elapse prior to someone being arrested for crimes committed. Some crimes have no limits, others 5 years, some 10 or perhaps more. We recognize that there may be natural consequences for our sin; and technically we are due death for sinning against God; but upon repentance (and confession) of our sins, we allow ourselves to receive the gift of God – that is forgivenes and eternal life in Christ Jesus.

Lord, I’m hungry; but before you feed me, forgive me please.
