Today our reflection may echo sentiments you’ve heard here recently. It’s not the same, plus repeating indicates relevance. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near:” Isaiah 55:6 ASV
This must have been a very hard admonition to hear by those who already were In Relationship with God. Regardless of exile or even apparent disregard of God’s commands by others, hearing that one ought to seek God can realize a sinking sensation of not quite measuring up to God’s standards.
Some of us are already God chasers. For us, seeking God is our lifelong aim and dream. One could say we are ‘Souled Out’ to God. Others of us are not as intentional – we have a visiting relationship with God. And that’s really the ones this is written for. Nominal Christians who are content with the status quo. Armchair Christians with a couch potato approach to intimacy with God. Head Christians whose logic interrupts intimacy with One who ‘cant be seen’.
If that’s our starting point; fine. But we can’t remain complacent, nominal, armchair head Christians – we also have to get to the Heart of Christianity. For if God doesn’t have our emotions along with our intellect; we are in Big Trouble. Remember – love the Lord with heart, mind and soul!? We gotta give God all; not heart only. Not head only. Not void of our active involvement. For, if something’s withheld, er – on a spiritual level, who’s got it? Who’s got us? Essentially we have not found God as yet.
Seeking God today may require increased prayer, more intentional ‘study’ in our Bible study, testifying of God’s promises, presence, protection and provision to self and others in times of lack And plenty. It may require holding on beyond when the thread is fraying. It may require asking for revelation of glory or declaring steadfastness until breakthrough comes.
Seeking God is active. It is definitely not passive. It’s involved, not spectator approach. Seeking God is challenging what we think we know in order that God may reveal Truth in Life. Seeking God is restorative when everything is crashing and failing. Seeking God is Full-Time; definitely NOT Part-Time! Seeking God is Now; not Later when – despite our best efforts – it just might be too late.
