Hello,
What is your greatest weakness? And how might you overcome?
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10 NIV
The church in Ephesus was facing challenges. In a society where limes of power and status made a difference, the shape of the gospel posed a challenge for post-church life. After offering guidelines for daily living, the Pauline epistle addressed, not spiritual gifts but rather, spiritual warfare. And as a way of introducing the topic, he says ‘… And, last thing – be strong …’
In my context “and last thing …” usually signalled that something important followed. And it is. In a world of gladiators and a powerful standing army, the believers were encouraged to ignore their own strength and find their inner strength in God.
In an era of instant messages, biochemical warfare, and weapons of mass destruction (including gossip and lies), God says to you and I, “and last thing, be strong in me”. How well do we trust God, that we might seek to find our inner strength in God? To overcome our fears and our weaknesses? In an era of healthy eating and body sculpting, God asks that we power up our spiritual muscles in Christ.
Prayer. Bible Reading. On a daily basis.
Strength to overcome.
Can we do it?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
