Blessings to you today and beyond. Can you imagine, we made it yet another day?! Through ALL that yesterday represented, here we are with the gift of today. Yesterday’s tomorrow. The Present. What will we do with it? (What if it were out last? )
Here’s today’s nougat
The good person produces good from the storehouse of the heart; likewise the evil personis evil based on the evil stored in the heart. For a person speaks from what is stored in the heart. Lk 6:45
So the heart is a storehouse of our emotions and our responses were basically programmed from what is already in our storehouse? Ouch. Remember the computer concept, ‘garbage in; garbage out’? Sounds a lot like that to me.
Of course, it is not only THE Mouth which reflects the GIGO Theory. In our Info Tech society, it’s all about the Swype, IM, and the good, old fashioned text, alongside video chats or the rare face to face conversations.
This becomes significant, for it is not so much our “mouths” which ‘speak’ for us anymore, but our fingers.
What then do our fingers reveal about us? Back in the day, when I went to grammar/primary/ elementary school, our fingers indicated how graceful or tall we were likely to be. And, if so blessed to have completed the Pittman typing test, it may have revealed our typing speed and accuracy.
Buy in the days of statuses and instant messages, it is the INNER WO/MAN that’s really put out on show.
One of the things Facebook offers these days is a reflection of our lives on Facebook in movie format. Were ours to be produced, would there be any moment which reflects that which was either TMI (Too Much Information), or does that the storehouse needs some serious overhauling?
James suggests that we need to control our tongues. Yesterday I recommended that we practice the new language. Might I extend that recommendation to include our fingers as well as our tongues, or rather, an overhauling of our thought life?
What’s in our emotional storehouse/warehouse today?
Lord, make my life a prayer to You …
