Hello
Have you ever gotten tired of waiting on others to get ‘it’ right? Or felt slightly superior to others for being a bit slow spiritually?
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. Luke 24:45 NLT
There they were, former disciples; yet they did not get it. Now this was the Inner Circle, eleven of The Twelve. Didn’t they remember all they had been taught? What was it with those disciples?
Some days I feel very unforgiving and intolerant of the disciples, they just didn’t pass muster. Whether it was about Leadership, Prophecy, Healing or interpreting Scripture; Jesus constantly had to be opening their minds to something. And they should really be on God’s page after being around Jesus live and direct for so long.
But then, the tables turn. Ever so slightly. For it is me who is in the remedial spiritually class … Forgiveness. Grace. Generosity. Trust. Humility – you name it and I’ve perhaps had that class with Jesus. And so help me with the Patience course! For that re-sit, I have to draw on Prayer and some serious Blood Coverage to get me through. In those moments (and sometimes in the other resit classes I take from time to time), it’s only Jesus who is willing/able to take me on. For only the power of the Holy Spirit can open my mind to what God would have me learn. Like that other time when … Hmmmn.
Have you been there? And did you hear Jesus complaining?
No, He did not. Yet we dare to tell the Lord how to fix our lives, or worse yet; we get impatient with our sisters and brothers in the Faith when they need a bit of spiritual assistance.
Aren’t they just like us? God’s Work-IN-Progress?
Don’t we each get enrolled in the Do Over classes Jesus offers regardless of congregational status and our level of spiritual maturity?
Heavenly Lord
You who walked with earthly, fallible humanity; restore us in grace, such that we extend to others that which we seek. Open our eyes to Your Word. Remind us of our covenant with You when we begin to get intolerant. Forgive and restore us as we forgive. In Jesus’s name Amen
Thanks for joining us for this Divine feast
