Hi there
Most days I’m good with Covid-19 and its implications. And then out of nowhere comes the, ‘isn’t it over yet Lord?’ moment. It may be a longing for the Caribbean, the uncertainty of making plans or just an odd moment, but they do come from time to time. I believe today’s Holy Nougat offers a good way to get back on track
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.”
2 Corinthians 1:3 NLT
Rather than trying to fix our ‘are we there yet’ moments by ourselves, I’m challenging each of us to try to document the blessings of the moment. We can say them out loud or write them out. The little things, like being awake, having a device with which to read the nougats, the gift of sight to enable reading and also to ‘see’ each other. We must also consider the blessings of hearing and reasoning, family and friends and of course, the knowledge of God’s love that keeps us going.
Maybe when we begin to consider our blessings, our praises will come naturally – bursting forth in song to God. We may also find ourselves slowly letting go of our angst as we realize that God has truly got us covered.
Covered with mercy, that doesn’t treat us as our ingratitude deserves. We might also choose to to look at God’s grace in the face of our doubts and fears. I suspect we might be led to confession of God’s mercy and love as well as confess our sins of impatience and ingratitude.
Still feeling down? Then it’s time for the big uns – asking God to comfort us amidst all that ails us. And being open to the move of God’s Spirit in response. If we’re open to God’s move, we just might find the strength for one hallelujah. If we can squeeze out a hallelujah, let’s upgrade to a praise Jesus or a clap offering of praise. And we continue in prayer and praise until it returns naturally.
Otherwise we can get stuck in the mire of anxiety and uncertainty, failing to see the multiple blessings God has prepared for us. And, when we start praising, we just might begin to see all that God is doing for us and others in this season.
Praying and praising with you today.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
