Hi
Thanks to you all for continuing to follow the nougats. It encourages me as I share with you and I am grateful for your support.
Here’s today’s nougats
Purge me with hyssop and I will be clean, wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:8
It’s one of my earlier childhood memories … My dad was a health buff and while he did not totally impose the healthy lifestyle upon us, he ensured that we had our cleanse EVERY QUARTER.
Cod Liver Oil and Dr Kings anyone? Mary Poppins claims that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, but she’s never had Dr Kings Sulphur Bitters. Or good, old-fashioned Jamaican senna pods. That’s purging alright.
Having that “wonderful” experience, one can understand my childish appreciation for what the writer referenced in the verse above (Psalm 51:8) and moreso, my conviction that God would not have cause to purge me.
But when we put away childish things and interpret this verse spiritually, there ought very little doubt that, as Christians, we actually need to be purged more frequently. Our sins may not be as obvious as David’s; but they are before us, defiling our relationship with our Redeemer. And he’s willing yet again to jump ahead of us to remind our Creator that the real purge has gone already. Now it’s just a matter of acknowledging our wrong (removing the toxicity from our spirits).
So here goes; have we wronged God/Jesus worth our thoughts, words, actions or inaction recently? And have we ‘fessed up to them? If not, drop everything and get to it right now.
I can’t do this for you … I gotta do this for myself.
Dear Lord
Against you have I sinned. I have
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
