Ever wondered how to ditch the If Onlys? Today’s Holy Nougat
is good for us all.
“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 NLT
We begin with the realization that we’re neither perfect nor in control. For both of those are attributes best reserved for God. The challenge each of faces is intrinsically tied up in these two ideas.
In good times, when we must make decisions about a host of little things, do we yield to God, the Perfect One Who is in full control? Often our temptation is to assume God’s approval, and lose the opportunity to deepen our relationship with God. When the nudge comes – and it will – a submitted heart heeds the Nudge, recognizing it as God’s intervention.
Can it be that many traumatic moments might have been avoided, or handled differently if we’d only submitted ourselves to God’s will? I suspect that that’s when the ‘if onlys’ came to town. We don’t have to live with speculation and regret all our live long days, submitting to God’s plans offers Peace and Joy. And how much more simple and happy life would be!
In good times and bad times, let’s choose to submit to God’s voice.
