Nougat 20

We continue our reflections on our bodies as The Temple of the Living God in today’s Holy Nougat

“Then one night the Lord appeared to Solomon and said, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭12‬, ‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Can you imagine God choosing this temple – my body, your body – as The Location for making sacrifices? Oh, but that’s what Romans 12:1 invites us to consider, isn’t it? (… that we present our bodies as Living Sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God). It would indicate that we are not to be counted among the common and ordinary; but among the set apart. And we are. We are God’s Chosen, invitees to a lifetime and beyond of fellowship and prayer. Having accepted the invitation, God’s honored the invite, pouring God’s own Spirit within to cleanse and purify us.

Two days ago, we concluded that if God’s Spirit has made the dwelling place in us, then our bodies represent the ‘Holy of Holies’. As the name suggests, it was the most sacred space in the temple and a visible space of worship. Can others see a viable temple in us – a site of ongoing worship? If not, what better time to repair this temple than now –

we recognize that there are cobwebs of guilt and shame in our lives Lord, and some scuff marks from unconfessed sin. Please allow Your Blood to wash the temple and make it clean again (like the blood of animals did in the physical temple). Thank You for answering my prayer Lord.

If we are God’s temple, we also qualify for security detail. Yes, we receive divine protection, for we are dear to God’s heart. This may seem preposterous but, Psalm 91:3-4, 11 confirm this. So in times of danger, we find hope and courage that God has us covered, and keeps us even beyond death.

As the sacred habitat of the Most High God, we walk with confident humility that our God loves us, is within us, is within us, loves us and protects us! Let’s share this love with others.
