Nougat 20

Today’s Holy Nougat™️ has inspired a group of believers from my home church to share in a radically different way.

““Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus: The Gift Who keeps Giving

One of the turn offs of this season for some people is the commercialism of giving to the extent that Christ has been removed from the ‘mas’ (mas being a Latin root for celebration). Given that Jesus wasn’t acting born 25th December, it is easy to cancel Christmas and leave it for the pagans. But what if we’re missing an opportunity to celebrate our Risen, Living, Loving Saviour? What if we fail to share God’s Gift?

One of my siblings and friends thought of giving from their bounty. Their idea: to invite people in the community to ‘Come buy with no money…’ At a time when many people are dispossessed, displaced and desperate, their Free Market (#FreeMarket) seeks to meet needs, offer Hope, and foster Joy.

I see it as part of the Five-Two-One Concept. Jesus used Five Loaves and Two Fish from One Person to feed Thousands. It doesn’t take much to foster transformation; just a little bit of caring. If Five-Two-One fed thousands, can you imagine the difference we can make when with others, we gift Jesus to others through our generosity?

The #FreeMarket Free Market is in Spanish Town Jamaica tomorrow; join or support if you can. Or, host your own even after the season is over. Let’s buy without money and direct others to our Source. Jesus: our one-time gift Who keeps on giving!

May all we seek be found in Christ
