Greetings
I’m not exploring love, nor Love I think. But there was just this other little thing worth exploring
in today’s nougat
(Love) is not rude, it is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs 1 Corinthians 13.5
You see when yesterday’s verse was hammering in my head to be reflected upon, part of this verse was there. But when I checked the versions I couldn’t find those words, so I KNEW that I was thinking things. But you know how the Still Small Voice operates.
I googled and yes the Holy Spirit was there to gently convict me because The Word DOES SAY “Love keeps no record of wrongs”. A million pictures flashed through my mind. In fact they’re still flashing.
I thought about the millions I’ve failed to forgive (70×7) and more so, the relationships I’ve wasted with family and friends JUSTIFYING my actions, my anger, my hurt by exploring how I was wronged. Jamaican mother of poetry eased my conscience for a bit when she reminded me of how she dealt with such hurt. She saved it for her ‘son’ Uriah to address in his sermon “when rain fall or parson sick…’
And many times that’s our default action. We save it to lash out, publicly humiliate or for a ‘get out of jail’ option. “Not so”, says our Lord; convicting me big time. “You can’t literally or mentally harp on the hurt. You’ve gotta keep on loving”
Ouch.
That hurt.
No less than the gentle reminder that that’s what Love did for me back on a cross. I just have to accept it
That’s how Love works. It bears no record of wrongs. Ouch
Have I really loved anyone that much?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
