So, knowing that her sister- friend had hopes to marry, a couples’ ministry leader shared a video with her. It contained advice from a popular minister for singles. The essence of his message was, if you wish to marry, get on up outta your house. They laughed about it, but the message was clear, don’t just ask and sit. Waiting on God includes activity. The principle also applies to prayer. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat

‭1 Samuel 1:20 NIV‬

[20] So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”

The Power and Place of Prayer

From Word to Action

Now my peeps,

When last we spoke, we agreed that ‘something happened’. This freed Hannah to rejoice as she broke her fast. We’ve also agreed that powerful prayer involves intentionality, separation, PUSHing, anticipating God’s response, clarity, and being thankful in all things. And while Hannah’s prayer was in a somewhat public place, her prayer was private. For her mumbling could be seen as ‘praying in secret’, which is a place and posture of prayer.

Inasmuch as faith without works is dead (see James 2:17), so is prayer without action. What if Hannah accepted that God answered her prayer and did nothing? Or if her husband didn’t agree to consummate their new covenant? She would not have become pregnant with Samuel. And he was born right on time!

To PUSH forward as believers entails waiting on God’s timing. However, it is active waiting and not simply sitting around moping. So we ought also make time

a) to discern what action is required to bring the prayer to fulfilment

b) to follow through with the action

How many prayers have suffered because we failed to actionize them? It is my hope that even if that described our prayers previously, it is no longer the case. May God’s grace continue to direct and sustain our prayers.
