What does God require of us?
If the greatest commandment is to Love God with every atom of our beings, and the second greatest is like it – Loving our neighbor as we love ourselves; then I dare suggest that God’s chief Requirement is Love.
Not the feeling we feel when we feel the feelings we never felt before.
Not following like a squirrel preparing for winter.
Not pretending the other is perfect.
More like going beyond our natural selves, especially for those who ‘don’t deserve’ it.
More like, turning the other cheek on the day when all we really desire is to return the favor.
More like, recognizing that our loves response is also about responding to God’s Love and not always the ‘reality’.
Definitely super-natural embodiment of God’s mercy
I’m not yet there. But it’s my love response to God’s love …
