It’s interesting to find that there is NO time frame associated with worshipping God or entering God’s presence. That means we have open access to God. No waiting in lines, no appointment. The only thing that is needed is joy.
I’m learning that Joy is rooted in understanding Who God is and nothing else. Joy has naught to do with who we are or what has happened to us. True Joy comes from being in God’s presence. And when we find ourselves in the presence of God, worship is automatic.
Brother Lawrence, author of The Practice of the Presence of God, indicates that we can live continually in God’s presence in the small things – even in doing dishes! It means that in the worst and weirdest situation, we can enter in the presence of God. For worship is of the heart and mind, not just the voice or actions.
Might we be needing to to focus on our worship of God (our reasonable service) during this season of pandemic, rather than being distracted by the challenges we face? This does not discount the reality of our experiences; but worship offers us the opportunity to keep the Main Focus our main focus.
And when we are inundated with the different bits of news that would worry us, with the rising tide of injustice and violence; let this be a call for us to be bolstered by our Joy in the Lord. Entering God’s presence with singing and worshiping joyfully, simply because God is God.
