Hi there my dear
I pray you are well, body, mind and spirit. With the number of leadership races taking Centre Stage across the globe this year, one can NOT help but consider what constitutes good governance. In the current world systems, most leaders are elected, and so we often feel we have a say in the decision making process. Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to think seriously about good governance – godly governance
“Come and set up your kingdom, so that everyone on earth will obey you, as you are obeyed in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 CEV
When worded in contemporary language, this prayer request invites us to really consider what true leadership is. There is already an assumption that God is obeyed in Heaven; so the concern is for the earthly manifestation.
Can we even imagine what life would be like, should we all opt to Obey God here on earth?
While it is genuinely hard for my mind to conceive; I am conscious that it has to begin with ME. And YOU, YOU, YOU; yes YOU. In my mind, I can hear us being like sleeper cells; whose aim is to recruit new citizens to God’s Kingdom. And, when we are all in, then we seek to live God’s way. Sounds like a cult, doesn’t it.
Yet, while the perpetuation of Kingdom life is God’s, not some cults; we must recognize that our obedience is part of the campaign to usher in God’s reign here on earth. Inviting God in means we are ready to follow the Constitution of God’s empire. It means we are at peace with God’s executive orders, whether they suit us or not. And that we will yield to God’s directive, whether on earth or in the heavenlies.
Maybe we will also need to be familiar with the Constitution and Executive Orders for ourselves. Then we will be in a better position to obey.
