Hello, hello, hello
How has your weekend been? Great, I hope.
Here’s today’s nougat
Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who knew not Joseph. Exodus 1:8
Joseph had died several generations hence, and his legacy lived on in Egypt. His family, now a nation strong, lived on some of the best farmland there. As migrants, they posed a threat to the new leader. Especially since his cultural memory did not see the value of Joseph to his welfare.
Migrants are often a threat to the majority population, even when their contribution to the host nation’s economy is critical. But, as followers of Christ, we are called to go beyond the scope of those who legislate against the vulnerable amongst us. We are called to feed, clothe, liberate, comfort and support those in need.
Some of us have never seen migrants, but there are others in our midst, who despite their family’s history just might be in a position of need.
How do we live the gospel for those ones? The least of these? For ourselves?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
