Nougat 18

What attributes come to mind when you think of God and God’s Love in your life? Perhaps Today’s Holy Nougat might offer some ideas. (Please note that they’re from two different books).

“I will comfort you there in Jerusalem as a mother comforts her child.” When you see these things, your heart will rejoice. You will flourish like the grass! Everyone will see the Lord’s hand of blessing on his servants— and his anger against his enemies.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭66‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬ —-

“The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

See What Manner of Love God Gives

Recently, I watched a Facebook (Meta) video that demonstrates a father’s love and support for his daughter. The child was learning to roller skate, with her father as coach. It is such a heart warming video and a lesson in God’s love for us.

Unfortunately, many of us are either unaware of the extent of Gods Grace and Mercy towards us. Others of us have begun to build that relationship with God, but are invested in other things and places. And some of us have opted out of trusting God owing to unresolved trauma.

In short, most of us have failed to grasp the extent of God’s Love for us. We’re not accustomed to experiencing God’s comfort; to knowing that God’s primary desire is to see us flourish; to bask in God’s blessing plans for our lives; and so we’re not filled with joy despite what we see in the natural. Ironically, we might be aware of God’s capacity for anger, but fail to realize that God is compassionate with God’s children and channels God’s anger toward God’s enemies and/or those who seek to place God’s children in danger. I challenge us to seek these attributes out in the blessings we count today. For our God is like both mother and father to us.

Today we all have the option to accept Gods Love. And it’s up to us whether we see God as a parent. Note how the roles complement each other for our good. Lets lift our spiritual muscles, accepting the stretching and growth that comes with such. Might we be found looking to God for direction wherever we are and finding it when we seek the love of a parent.
