Hello
Blessings to you. I trust you are well and rested for the week ahead. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God.” John 16:27 NLT
When I see this, I remember my sister’s tag line – ‘the Lord loves you dearly and wants you for His own’ isn’t that a wonderful assurance? Not quite the same as Jesus’ quote which links love for Jesus and belief in Him to the receiving of God’s love . For, in the Word to the disciples, Jesus sought to encourage them through the assurance of God’s attentiveness to their prayers.
Yes, the disciples had moments of doubt and fear of failure. They now trusted Jesus, but were not ready to lose His physical presence. And, unfortunately, we also register similar concerns about our own prayer/spiritual lives. We worry that our prayers won’t be answered in the affirmative, or fear that God cannot love us beyond ‘X’ infraction.
As God’s creation, we already have the Creator’s love. That’s automatic. This love which Jesus mentions is the product of relationship with God’s son. Kinda like the progression of abiding friendships over time.
The only question remaining is, ‘do we accept the love being offered by God? (And if we do, are we keeping it to ourselves or sharing with others who have limited experience of God’s all encompassing love?)
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
