Blessings one and all
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
James 1:17 KJV
Can you think of a gift you received from God which you didn’t recognize, took for granted, or ignored? I can. But living in a state of regrets is also not very helpful.
The Good News is – our response to our most recent gift from God does not determine whether we receive another or when we receive another.
Because God is immutable.
Unchanging, unchanged, unchangeable.
That’s not only what James and the other apostles wrote, it’s my experience of God. Possibly yours too. And, if so, then we hold steadfast to that assurance.
ALWAYS
Good times? – Thank God for the good and perfect gifts
Bad times? – Focus like Hagar did on the God Who sees us and sustains us and let’s get the praise on. (I know, I know. Easier said than done. Regardless, let’s will our spirit to do so whenever we catch ourselves doing otherwise).
Another challenge for us is to now watch God at work so we might ‘catch God red-handed’ while giving us good gifts. (Now THAT should boost our Faith!!!!)
Last but by no means least, if God only gives good gifts, then as ones who follow God, we ought to do likewise. Hmmmn (or is it ouch?!)
This is not about Christmas. For God is not restricted by seasons in blessing us and others.
This is not about size or price. For the gifts of God come in a variety of sizes.
This is however, about unconditional love which affords us to bless another, no strings attached simply because it’s how God has called us to be.
Time to review my God-watching skills, and also my giving.
