Ever been caught in a situation where you were unprepared? Was it potentially dangerous? How’d you respond? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?”” Joshua 5:13 NLT
And then came the day when despite his readiness for battle, Joshua met someone who was armed and dangerous. I can only imagine what my response would have been! Even now.
Yet despite it seeming that Joshua was unarmed, Joshua met the issue head on. ‘Are you with us or against us?’ he asked. I’m tempted to respond, ‘Joshua; the man is armed and dangerous. And you are not. Does it really matter?’
But Joshua was a true warrior. He faced his fears. Moreover, he knew in Whom he believed, and was more than persuaded that God would keep God’s promises. He’d seen God at work in Moses’s time and KNEW what God was capable of. Even if he (Joshua) was unarmed.
And, although he was ready to face whatever the man was coming with, Joshua did not rush off with his assumptions.
Nope
He asked a direct question
He wanted to know the man’s intentions. I believe that sometimes we end up in serious battles because we fail to ask questions. Especially when we are not wholly prepared.
May we learn to rely on God’s strength and direction so we know HOW to respond when caught unawares.
