Oooh
This thing called ‘Love!’ Sometimes…
Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to think about just that.
“Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.”
2 John 1:6 NLT
O my God, have mercy!
This is often easier said than done. Because some people make loving much hard. Yes much hard.
Now if loving is partly about honoring God, then many of us have dishonored God beyond belief. Perhaps it’s time to set that account in order. For sure, it means different approaches to expressing our love for God, in the long run; it’s back to what we are told.,
That might be when we come to the realization that Love is a choice as well as an emotion. For even in the most romantic relationships; we have to choose to move past ‘yesterday’s quarrel and remain involved. As parents loving wayward children, sometimes it takes a lot to forgive ourselves and trust the children again. And yet, we love them.
For the stranger, the abuser, the migrant, the refugee; loving THEM is not as easy. We don’t know them. Or their reputation precedes them to the extent that we’d rather not.
One aspect of love involves empathy. And for those outside of our relationship circles, it may be the best starting point. Attempting to understand Why, by (mentally) walking in a person’s shoes. It might trigger something in us; or we may have to ask for a special dose of God’s blessings and grace to separate the person from the actions.
We might find that we also need to ask for the ability to love enough to admit someone is wrong; or to walk away from an untenable situation. All in all, let us be guided by the knowledge that knowing Who we are (our faults and blessings), Christ CHOSE to love us enough to gain us access to a different way – here on earth; then for eternity.
I love you
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
