Hi
For many of us light in darkness has become our reality to the extent that we take it for granted. But when we try to make our way in the night or through uncharted territory, and we stumble, it’s different. We become more appreciative of the ability to see.
This time of year brings mixed reactions in folks. Aside from the emotional impact of gathering around family, there’s the greyness which sucks the happy out of some of us. That’s called Seasonal Affective Disorder (or SAD for short). Even having read of SAD, my brain could not comprehend it. Then I heard of the lamps which offer ‘sunlight’ to help one adjust and actually used one for myself. It truly brightened my day.
That lamp is not the sun. But it reminds me of sunshine and blessings; of love and laughter. Likewise, we are not the Son/Sun of God, and sometimes our light shines dimly. Or our flame flickers until fresh Oil gets poured in. Yet, when we truly live for Christ, our candles invite others in; guiding them to the true Light of the world.
In this era of chronic depression, suicide and increased stress levels; especially among our youth; might we be a sun lamp – pointing to the Sun? Dispelling gloom, greyness and SADness with our Love, Compassion and Prayer for others; reminding them of hope and joy and True Love? Perhaps they will be drawn by the flame in us to the glory of the Son, Who dispels shadows.
Now here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.”
John 1:8 NLT
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
