Hi
I am fascinated by feet. The shape, length, arch of the instep, toes, the works. Not obsessed fascinated, just marvel fascinated. But, like many of us, I lose fascination when they’re cracked and ‘disgusting’ looking. Ironically, that’s when God gets fascinated. Don’t believe me. check out today’s Holy Nougat.
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 NLT
I can see and smell those feet already, and it’s not pretty. If the people lived in the plains, seeing the news caster on the mountains meant they were a ways off with a bit of distance left to travel. Dirt, grime and all that.
So now I wonder, what is the difference between the motion of the feet in taking good news and bad? For the difference is noticeable from afar and even in the stride. One would expect perhaps to see the face of the news caster, their dress, something else but the feet? But the beauty lay in the message and by virtue thereof, the feet which carries it.
The news was usually that the battle was won and all is well. And that might have been the crucial point. For there’d have been perhaps a pep in the step, a victory dance in the run walk; some movement that conveyed to the waiting people below that it is well.
Now, let’s Fast track to our time.
There’s a long-standing battle going on in the heavenlies for our lives. And, contrary to what it may seem, the war is won. We only need to look at the feet of the news caster on Mt Calvary –
Pierced
Bloody
Cracked
Torn/blistered …
– And then at those same feet now residing in our hearts.
For, those feet say the victory is mine for the battle is the Lord’s – oh Hallelujah! I accepted those feet and so, regardless how it seems; my life is secured!
And, ironically, I have also become a messenger of good news. For, I cannot keep it in. That’s joy that usually bubbling up and yearning to overflow. Oh yeah! The joy that says ‘No matter what life seems to be God’s got me! And wants to cover you too’
My feet may be smelly and hurting at times; and my dance may be muted, but I’m doing the gospel (good news) shuffle and hop; cause I KNOW Whose I am! I hope you not only see and admire My feet; but you also have His feet firmly residing within; and that your feet; despite a bit of bruising are also doing the gospel shuffle and hop!
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
