Hi there my dear
Are you a biological only child? Were you raised like one? I am not, and cannot fathom what it is like. I’ve spent all my life around siblings older and younger whom I look to for guidance on life and vice versa. One of the best compliments I could receive is that I resemble/act like my siblings. But even better than that, is the knowledge that I have a spiritual Big Brother Who’s trod earth’s path before; Who understands the temptations, joys and frustrations of this world and offers me (and you), the opportunity to overcome and excel.
Take today’s Holy Nougat for example, which reminds us that Jesus is our best Sibling –
“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” Romans 8:29 NLT
What a prototype! Truly, Jesus ought to be our standard through Whom we judge ourselves. The elder brother Whom we work so hard to emulate. This is not Nicqi’s call for us; it’s part of our spiritual DNA. We have first to accept it.
Here are a few questions for our consideration
- Is there a trait in (or of) Christ that we truly admire and wished we could emulate?
What’s to stop us? Let’s study Big Brother, figure how and why He does what He does; and ask Him to help us
- What aspect of Jesus’ life(style) poses the greatest challenge for us?
First, let’s prove it some more, figure out Why it is challenging; then we seek the help we need so we can be more like Jesus
- Are there parts of Jesus’ life and ministry that we’re already copying?
Imitation is one of the best forms of praise. Let’s praise Big Brother by continuing to live our best life LIKE HIS! We pray for God’s guidance and grace to continue on the path of being more and more like Jesus, our Big Brother. So whether a biological only child or not, we celebrate the treasure of our Very Perfect spiritually Eldest Brother, Jesus.
