The story is told of a man who was very poor and couldn’t afford church clothes. Two elders decided to step in and support the poor man. The first, upon seeing the man sitting in a space that could destroy the suit, quickly reprimanded him.

“Remember you’re wearing my suit. Be careful.’

The man was embarrassed. He did not expect that. But realising that it truly wasn’t his suit, he conceded. A few days later, the other man gifted him with a fancy suit.

Given his wardrobe challenges, the poor man was obliged to wear the suit to church. Remembering his prior experience, the man carefully sat and tried to blend in. That was short-lived, as the new benefactor, guessed the reason for the poor man’s discomfort. Eagerly, the benefactor said, ‘Don’t worry about where to sit. I have given the suit to you. Wear anywhere.’

Siblings, I pray we realize that the suit God gives us can be worn anywhere. As we reflect on Today’s Holy Nougat™️, I pray that we see the value in the suit we’re offered.

Colossians 3:14 NLT

[14] Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Ready-to-Wear Love

There’s nothing like a brooch or a simple accessory to make an outfit ‘pop’. But, sometimes, there’s an art top making it work. Thankfully, we can watch tutorials on how to upstyle a wardrobe with simple tips and tricks. If there was a video on Divine Designer Wear, love would either be that cute accessory or essential wardrobe hack.

Love not only covers a multitude of sins, it has the power to transform the recipient and the giver. It offers grace, healing, forgiveness and hope in a lost and fractured world. Paul offers several characteristics of Love in 1 Corinthians 13. It is patient, kind, humble, without conceit, decorus, trustworthy and trusting.

Self-Check

What does our accessory look like, is it tarnished?

Does our lived approach to love reflect those aforementioned jewels?

Application

Everyone needs love to thrive preferably as a genuine gift, without strings. There’s only 1 Source for that kind of pure love.

Y’shua

Wearing God’s love as an accessory can sometimes transform our outlook, as well as how are perceived by others. God’s love, expressed as forgiveness might have been the impetus for Saul’s Damascus Road experience. It definitely was the source of our transformation. Love said, ‘Father forgive, they’re unaware of their sins.’

When we receive True Love, the love of God in Y’shua, we can’t help but respond. For many of us, it’s where our life really turned around. One song writer says the world is dying for the lack of the Saviour’s love. The plethora of the world’s waging wars bears witness to that. If we knew that our love could prevent a war from happening, wouldn’t we share that love?

Assignment

Remember, love is better shared when we’ve experienced it for ourselves. Can we love ourselves a bit today then share the love with others?

Let’s wear love as a garland, an accessory, or offer it with no strings to someone today.

May all we seek be found in Christ
