Hi there
Recently I have had cause to think about the ministry of accompaniment, that is, journeying with others through travail. At times it seems as though our situations are too much and victory is not in sight. Yet, in today’s Holy Nougat we find hope – if we choose to believe it
“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” Romans 8:37 NLT
Having never given birth, I am not familiar with the overwhelming love of a mother seeing her baby and holding that child for the first time. But I have experienced love beyond measure for my nieces and nephews. And that love is fierce – I would go beyond the beyond for them. I know many of us can relate (regardless of parenting status). Can we then begin to imagine the extent of God’s love for us? In Isaiah, we are described as Hephziba, the beloved bride. We are God’s beloved creation; being perfected in love to become ALL God calls us to be!
Of course, with all the love we have for our children, they sometimes disappoint us. In their actions or choices, and although we are disappointed, our love is not likely to wane. Rather, we attempt to accompany them through those moments. We may also journey with them through their struggles, whatever those may be. In those moments, we become cheerleader, prayer warrior, teacher, advocate, inventor … you name it. The best news is God has done and continues to do so for EACH of us until Victory is ours.
What is even better is that regardless of our most disappointing actions; or of our most humiliating experiences; God’s love never wavers. To the extent of dying for us and anointing is with the Spirit so we can overcome. Through thick and thin; at our best and worst – and definitely throughout the in-between – our God works with us and others to help us overcome. No matter the hurdle.
And that is the reason why we are more than conquerors in any situation. For if God be for us, the worst done to us or by us can still be overshadowed by God’s presence in our lives. Let’s choose to never lose sight of that!
So, if we can think of that which we love more than anything or anyone else; God’s love far surpasses that and moves us to life in fullness with God; the ultimate victory.
Indeed, we are assured overwhelming victory in every single circumstance. We believe in faith that this is so.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
