Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate. Esther 5:13
Riches and favour trumped by hatred!
Haman had everything going for him. Wealth, status man’s the King’s favour. His life was glorious. But Haman allowed his glory to be overshadowed by his hated of Mordecai. But in his anger he forgot to learn about his enemy. Haman was aware that Mordecai was a Jew, but he FAILED to recognizer who the Jews were. Or, as David would say, he touched the Lord’s anointed.
Now remember we are also God’s anointed. And so are many around us. Our wealth has no purpose if we’re busy hatching schemes. And our oppressors’ status holds little weight if the plots go against God’s will for our lives. Haman’s plot resulted in his dishonour and demise. Let’s ensure that that’s not our story.
What might we do to change our mindset when someone offends us.
Lord, Please contain our tempers as you keep us in your Secret Place.
