Nougat 14

When last were you good and truly lost? I mean lostness to the nth degree, without map or GPS. Never, that’s great (some of us aspire to get to that level). For those of us who can remember, what did you do, how did you feel?

As we consider today’s Holy Nougat, may we find respite in the knowledge that with Jesus, we’re not lost.

“And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We do know the Way

Yes, it really is that simple. We know the way – to Heaven; via Jesus; and because of Him, we know the way for all that truly matters. Yet there is a critical difference between knowing and believing.

We know that The Way to Heaven is Jesus; but our actions may suggest, like Thomas, we don’t seem to believe The Way to Life and Truth. There is a connection between our knowledge, because Jesus is The Way to Heaven and with His being all-seeing and all-knowing, Jesus is definitely The Way to Life and Truth.

So when faced with the vagaries of Life, we don’t run without conferring with The Guide. Remember that is what our group experts do. They consult their GPS, their maps from time to time. They look for (familiar) landmarks, even if it’s their first time. You see siblings, it’s the same for us: we check in with Jesus to determine that our path is indeed correct. That’s where prayer and Bible study (personal time studying the ‘map’) come together.

And it’s in our interest to grasp the landmarks that can guide us when we falter. Whether spiritual or natural, familiarizing ourselves with these guides us back. So kindness, gentleness, self control, peace, love, joy, goodness, selfdiscipline, humility, patience , and compassion are significant signposts. Both for us to assist in guiding others to The Way, and for us to be guided by God’s Spirit when we lose sight of our Way.

So, we use our GPS, Jesus, and what He’s taught us. When we find ourselves lost or stuck whisper a prayer, ask Jesus to bring a verse to memory; look for or practice a landmark and Watch God at Work. Yes, we do know and believe The Way.
