Greetings
Have you ever considered the value of your Christian identity? How does you feel?
Here’s your Holy Nougat for today
And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name. These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood. Ezra 2:61-62
Can you imagine being discounted because of your background? Concealment, Condemnation and Conclusion. Each name had other possible definitions, but I suspect that it was the stigma of these meanings which contributed to the preists’ exemption from the list of accepted priestly families. .
But, regardless of our old names; regardless of what the word chooses to call us, we have a NEW NAME, which is always reckoned by God’s genealogy. We are Christians, we are “of Christ”, whose name is recognised by God as being above all names. Hallelujah
O, that we would walk in that knowledge . Let’s remind ourselves of our Christian identity whenever we feel that we are excluded.
Lord, I thank you for our identity in Jesus Christ, which ensures that we are hero’s to your promises. May our lives reflect you always. In Jesus’s name, amen
In Christ
