Nougat 12

We sometimes get so caught up in the what not to do, that we miss out on our actual calling. But God’s Word offers both. Consider today’s Holy Nougat.

“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We ought to be known for our helpful words (and actions). And … if we are choosing to focus on the positive, then we can’t waste our time listening to those ‘haters’ on the corner. Our eyes need to be watching God. And if-when we do hear them Haters, we know that the good word for them is, ’Lord have mercy!’ That applies in both directions – to us, lest we forget ourselves and respond outside God’s will; and for them, that God would change their mindsets. Because everyone needs prayers in those situations!

More importantly though, our words ought to bring Hope and point to Life with (and in) Jesus. And if that’s not our true default; it’s not too late. Now, this isn’t a call for us to be a know-it-all who incites others to do harm because we are always in their faces. No – some restraint is most definitely desired. But, our ideas and responses should be so helpful that we are their first choice for good counsel and advice.

So how do we accomplish that – so glad you asked. We simply ask God for two things: for Wisdom and Positivity. (Yes, we also need other things, but this is for our mindset). Those are gifts that we might somehow overlook. Yet they are ours for the requesting. And God, Who loves us more than either parent, being our Heavenly Father and Creator, will give us what we need.

May we use our gifts to help others, and in so doing, draw others unto Jesus.
