Morhers’ Day Is HARD for many people. For mothers whose children were conceived through rape and/or abuse; the day may be bittersweet. For those whose children have been incarcerated (legitimately or otherwise); who bear the stigma of a ‘failed’ child; I cannot ever imagine. For those who by virtue of life’s foibles have become estranged from their children … this is not easy. For those caring for children who are terminally ill; the uncertainty can eclipse the impact of the day.
For those whose efforts have yielded no pregnancies; this is a rough day. For those who almost made it; whose babies returned to their Creator even before gracing us with their life-filled presence; it is tough. And for those who have held their babies, and have since returned them to the Lord; mothers’ day is poignant and painful – even if there are other children.
And yet, we celebrate them all; as well as those who are currently enjoying the fruits of their wombs. We give thankful praise for womanhood and love and strength and fortitude. We bless you mothers in all the phases you have been through and for all the ways you have blessed us all.
For the joys, the heartaches, the worries, the stresses, the sorrow – deep and abiding; the pain, the choices – good and the bad; for the little things which brighten our day; for the prayers which accompany day after day; we salute you all.
May God bless you multifold.
