How have you been keeping? Warm, I hope. The cold weather has even managed to hit Jamaica … Go figure. But, it’s a bit better than the heat.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. John 14:13 NLT
* Anything.
– Yes anything
* So how comes – (Sigh)
– How comes what?
* I don’t mean to sound like I’m doubting out complaining Lord, but … oh forget it.
– No. Tell me. Remember, come let’s reason. I really want to talk this through with you
* So if it’s anything, why is it that I’ve asked, time and again and nothing? I even ended with ” … In Jesus’s name” before the Amen. Seriously Lord, sometimes I don’t get it. It’s almost as if you take pleasure in NOT answering MY prayers. Did I miss a formula, is there a code for who gets answered, am I even among your chosen? It’s hard to even believe when almost every prayer gets shot down. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to pray! Because it’s as if I’m talking to myself for all the difference it makes.
* And the non-Christians around me like they’re gloating. Sometimes I tempted to ask them to pray, because their lives seen to be problem free. And when I pray for THEM, their requests are met. But then, I really don’t get it. And I’m not even sure that having this conversation now is going to make a difference. Because it still won’t change my situations.
– Perhaps. But could it change your perception?
* My perception. My vision is fine. Lord, I don’t get it. My prayers go unanswered, even though I pray in your name and your saying I need to adjust my perception. Boi Lord …
– Yes. I’m still saying that when we’re through your perception might change.
– Read the verse again.
* You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
* I still don’t get it. You’ve promised to do anything I ask for in Your Name.
– Right. But it doesn’t end there does it?
* No. But – hold on. You mean that while I can ask for anything, the end result must be in keeping with God’s glory. So although … No, I still don’t get it. Are my requests all outside of your glory?
* To be honest Lord, I think I ask within your will, and based on your word, it’s about the Yes and Amen. But still some of my prayers go unanswered. So, I ask that you help me understand your glory. And while you’re at it, help me to seek your glory (so that my prayers will be answered more quickly). In Jesus’s name (?) Amen
– You really mean this? Because if you’re serious, so am I. Let’s begin with who I AM, and what that means for you …
