Did you have one of those days this past week? Whether or not, this treat just might be yours!
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Then leaning back against Jesus’ breast, he asked Him, Lord, who is it? John 13:25 AMP
It was one of those moments. Jesus had just dropped the bombshell! One of them would betray him.
It could have been any one of the twelve. But Jesus knew who it was. Each of the twelve was curious. But the “one whom Jesus loved” (sounds kinda like ‘the one who was called Prince’ doesn’t it) has a strange action accompanying his query…
He LEANS against (or into) Jesus. This is significant because it indicates that even as he asks, he is tacitly saying “Not me. I love you too much”, or “If it is I, I know YOUR love will enfold me”. Either way, that’s powerful. (One of my folks would say, “That’s awesome sauce!”)
Each of us has denied or betrayed Jesus at some point in our lives. In fact, we might be about to be guilty of the same soon (for there is none righteous).
But, even at our worst, we are ASSURED of Jesus’s love. We KNOW beyond the shadow of a doubt that confession of our sin RETURNS us to that Special Place where we love and know we are loved in return.
We are guaranteed that our mess-take isn’t the end of the story. For after “It is finished” comes ‘He is Risen!’.
Hallelujah!
That gives us every reason to recline into Jesus’s love. That’s the Good News. That’s food for thought.
Hope it makes your week.
In Christ
