Nougat 10

Here’s today’s nougat.

When Jesus tasted it, he said, “It is finished”. With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19.30

Let us set aside the business of physical death for a minute, and ask ourselves the question. How well are we able to recognize the end – Of a relationship, of a job, of a situation which might even be intolerable?

The bitter wine was the cue for Jesus. Once he drank it, he let go. Despite praying previously that the cup be passed, when the end came, he did not prolong.

Perhaps we should ask God to heighten our awareness of the cues to let go of stuff in our lives. Not late, not prematurely, but right on time. And, when we recognize the cues, may God grant us the grace to walk away with no fuss.
