Yesterday we focused on our response to negative responses to our prayers. Today’s Holy Nougat
is an invitation to pray.
“Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 CEV
If we were to measure our daily worries and prepare a grid what would it look like?
Do we worry about one thing only or different things as they are presented to our minds?
Do we worry alone or do we drag others in?
Do our worries take precedence over every thing and others’ concerns?
How does our verbalized worry impact those around us?
Do we believe God cares about our worries?
As stated several nougats ago, I once heard a pastor say that worry is the flip side of prayer. With that in mind, can we take the same questions about worry and measure how much we pray about the ‘things that matter to us most’.
On a given day …
Do we pray about one thing only or different things as they are presented to our minds?
Do we pray alone or do we invite others to join us?
Do our personal needs take precedence over every thing and others’ concerns when we pray?
How does our verbalized (out loud) prayers impact those around us?
Do we believe God cares about our prayers?
Last, but by no means least, a direct comparison:
Which brings more satisfaction – worry or prayer?
Which brings more positive results – worry or prayer?
Since the year is still very young, we have the opportunity to transform our worry lives by being intentional about praying – sharing our worries with God – when worries would seek to overcome us.
May this be our year of less worries and more praying
