How shockable are you, and are you easily frightened? I remember the days when the only thing I wasn’t scared of was my shadow, and even then … Mark you, I do remember what triggered that season. But that’s for another day. I invite us to think about our fright quotient, because the Marys must have been a bit concerned at the rolled away stone. Imagine how they’d have felt at what happened next! Consider Today’s Holy Nougat
“When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked,” Mark 16:5 NLT
Surprise
I’m not sure I’d have been comfortable looking in the tomb when the stone was mysteriously moved. I’d be curious for sure, but perhaps from a distance. Of course, if being left behind was option 2, I’d go with the crowd) safety in numbers and all that).
But when we got in the tomb, seeing the man sitting calmly there would have given me a moment’s pause. My brain would be going at a mile a minute. Under the fear – this could be the person who robbed the sepulcher – would be a few questions
– Who are you
– How did you get in here
– Did you see the person who stole Jesus
– Why are you waiting here
– What Did You Do With Jesus
What would your response/s be?
I’d like us to transfer those thoughts to our tasks ordered by God. What do we do when things start going awry with no logical explanation? Moreover, how do we respond to angelic or other messengers sent to us by God? Do we get panicked or do we begin praying?
Siblings these are days of ‘and suddenly’. I pray we’re ready for them when they arrive. Until then, we watch and pray, seeking our peace, and our rhythm in Christ. For when Jesus is with us, and the Spirit of God is on security detail, there is nothing to worry about.
But first, let’s get on/remain on God’s good side.

May all we seek be found in Christ
