A friend and I were chatting recently and she commented on what was for her frugal for any Christian: the response to provocation. For her, it spoke volumes about one’s maturity when one can walk away from a fight. Upon reading today’s Holy Nougat, I wondered whether she sought to model David.

Then David composed a funeral song for Saul and Jonathan, 2 Samuel 1:17 NLT

All throughout Saul’s terrorising of David; David did not retaliate. He – mighty warrior who defeated Philistine giants – ran away to avoid fighting with his mentor.

And, upon Saul’s death; David honoured his mentor the king by providing a proper burial. That is grace.

Now if David did that for Saul, how much more laudable is Christ’s act of dying for each of us? For breathing forgiveness -even from the Cross. Now that’s not only grace; that is abiding Love!

Let’s act on it now through our interactions with others.

For God’s glory and solely in God’s might.
