Hi my dear
How are you? Seriously, how are you faring in this new normal? Uncertain? Worried? Joyful? Contemplative? Prayerful? All of those and then some? If you need to talk, I’m around and so are some of my colleagues. But more importantly, please remember that God is available. Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“The LORD looked down from heaven on all people to see if anyone understood, if anyone was looking to God for help.”
Psalms 14:2 NCV
So where is our trust at this time? My dear siblings, whether others agree or not, it is only God Who can save us. Not China, not Cuba, not any of the politicians in our countries. They also have to turn to Christ for themselves.
There are prophetic revelations, conspiracy theories and kilos of home remedies. And perhaps many of them are correct. But let us not lose sight of the fact that this pandemic and enforced isolation is a PERFECT opportunity for us to seek God’s face for ourselves. To hear from God as we seek God in the Secret Place of our prayer closet.
For God seeks a people who seek God, whose hearts are devoted to being tuned by God. That’s what the prophets have done and we are called to do likewise. To depend on God as our Source, of grace, fearlessness (instead of panic), of provisions (instead of hoarding), and of strength (even if we do go to the doctors). This is not about defying the call to stay indoors. We ought to practice wisdom. It is an invitation to hunker down with God in this gift of a slower pace that some of us have received.
Yes, we are concerned – but we know our help is in God.
Yes, we are somewhat isolated – but we are not alone
Yes, we listen to our leaders – but we also lift our eyes to God our Refuge. We pray
We pray for our leaders, the medical teams and even for the pharmaceutical companies, that they find wisdom and direction in God; and that they maintain their integrity.
We pray for janitorial staff who keep the hospitals and similar places clean and safe in these times .
We cover all on the frontlines under the Blood of Jesus for their physical and mental strength in this season and for their families who may be worried about their welfare.
We pray for those who are in spaces of danger when isolated at home, that God’s hedge of protection will be around them. And that those who would use this as an opportunity for harm would repent
We pray for our spiritual leaders, including the prophets, for wisdom and the ability to hear God clearly in this season.
We pray for our neighbors, friends and family as well as our foes, for mental, spiritual and physical health.
We pray for the various countries that are hard hit, for the countries that are not prepared, for the countries overwhelmed by the the impact of the pandemic and especially for our own countries – where we live or originated- that this plague comes to an end.
We pray for ourselves that this may be an opportunity for us to connect with God in a deeper level.
We pray for God’s solution to all this, for clarity of vision for the way forward in the new normal.
Let us pray …
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
