Welcome to June
Have you felt a little out of it, as though no one is conscious of your struggles? As though your life is one long long rendition of an out of date blues tune? As though you are one of those with whom the Lord is annoyed, thus nothing seems to be going right?
If so, I urge you to savour the promise inherent in today’s Holy Nougat™.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Isaiah 43:2 NLT
So pause now, and assess your current situation.
Are you in deep waters . . . is it that you’re overwhelmed and feel as though you’re covered – submerged even – yet can’t even figure what is pressing you in; then today I’m asked to remind you that God is with you.
Maybe you have your own river … with streams and tributaries – financial, emotional, material, mental, social (or variations of one main ‘al’) – and the main source is connected to you through no fault of yours; I pray you recognise that you will get THROUGH this, that God’s got grace and joy on the other side (possibly in this lifetime). Trust God, you WILL NOT DROWN!
Or perhaps, you feel like the Hebrew boys – facing the furnace BECAUSE of your Christian convictions (if you perish, you’ll perish but won’t forsake your faith) – except that the oppression is constant and personal (sorry to tell you, the Boys were there also!) . . . Be encouraged; for though you can see the flames, smell the burning round about you, you WILL NOT BE CONSUMED!
And if you find you’re ALL of the above, SOME of the above, SOON TO BE the above, or NONE of the above, remember that God’s grace in Jesus Christ IS sufficient for all we face. Then, when we receive our redemption … let’s share the news with others.
May God’s grace prove sufficient.
