Nougat 1

Recently while chatting with someone, they mentioned a malaise of prayer faced by some saints. The ‘bouncing’ prayer, have you heard of it? – the sensation that one’s prayer didn’t make it past the ceiling. Whether you have or not, Today’s Holy Nougat could be the antidote.

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” ‭‭

God Hears God’s Spirit’s Intercession

Siblings, while it may be discomfiting to admit to having hard bouncing prayers, we can find comfort in knowing that God’s Spirit intercedes for us. So when our own words are inadequate, it is possible for God’s Spirit to move beyond the ceiling.

What is equally, or even more heartening, is this assurance we have that when God’s Spirit intervenes on our behalf, it is not just the same prayer that is presented to God. Rather, God’s Spirit communicates our need in relation to our prayer request. And, while that may not be what we think we should have, God does respond to that need as articulated by God’s Spirit.

Why does God do that we ask.

Because, as our Creator, God does know us better than we know ourselves. Thus, God seeks to satisfy our needs just like a parent would respond to a baby’s needs even if they’re articulating that s/he desires something else.

If ought else were to take place, we can know immediately that the spirit that’s operating isn’t God’s Spirit. Our Nougat asserts that God’s Spirit moves in tandem with God’s will for our lives. That’s the best plan ever for with God, all things are aligned for our good.

My recommendation for us when we experience those bouncing prayers:

1. Check our lives to confirm that we’re aligned to God’s plans

2. Invite God’s Spirit to intercede on our behalf (some Jamaicans would say, ’Lord take the case and give me the pillow.’)

3. Rest assured that since God’s Spirit is aligned to God’s will for our lives, it is well.

4. Water the assurance with thanksgiving (or Spirit groaning)

5. Watch God work

And remember to share the testimony so someone else can overcome.
