Here are three quick reasons to sing despite Easter being long gone. Please savor today’s Holy Nougat
“But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.” Hebrews 10:12 NLT
Firstly, Christ Jesus is our High Priest. In earlier Jewish tradition, ONLY the High Priest had access to the Holy of Holies (the most sacred space in the temple); and there made an annual sacrifice for sins committed by the Entire community. In current Jewish tradition, we are about to enter the season of atonement.
Secondly, as our High Priest, Christ addressed the SIN problem once and for all with His own Life. (Remember the proclamation from the Cross; “Forgive them …”; that was part of the finality of the sacrifice.) Now, to borrow an old cliche, it’s not that Christ’s atoning death makes us sinless; it is that relationship with Him helps us Sin Less.
And that’s because Thirdly, having entered the Holy of Holies; having defied the natural order by being Priest and sacrifice, Christ ascended to Heaven to plea bargain on our behalf. This is not only in regard to our sins; but also in relation to our concerns and needs! And in being situated at God’s right hand; we know that Jesus has unlimited access!
