Hello
Having trouble believing God or in God’s promises? Chew slowly on today’s Holy Nougat
“But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, how can I be sure that I will actually possess it?”” Genesis 15:8 NLT
Sometimes we just have to ask the obvious question. God makes a promise, and no matter how we try to figure it; it seems totally improbable. Instead of discounting God’s promise; Abraham (formerly Abram) asked about proof.
It is interesting to note that post-Jesus’ birth, unbelief was prolific even among the religious leaders. And almost every one needed proof of the fulfillment of God’s promises – whether it be the priest who couldn’t accept that he was finally going to be a natural father; the persecuted prophet who was losing hope, the spiritual leader who no longer knew what he believed or even the skeptic-turned-disciple.
Perhaps even more interesting is the divine response(s) to the seekers. Each gets personalized ‘proof’ to match their circumstances. It’s important my dears, for it indicates that the divine response to OUR individual query is likely to be just as personalized to our need/doubt/faith. And, if that holds true, then we can each be assured by the knowledge that even when we face disappointments, God cannot lie. Thus God SHALL honor God’s Word. It’s as complicated as that.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
