A recent phenomenon on the Disney channel over the past few years is the celebration of Disney descendants. If my understanding of the premise holds true, it seeks to consider the what if’s of Happily Ever After. It also anchors a sense of rootedness and family while exploring what qualifies ‘belongingness’. To whom do we belong; where do we anchor our roots? Chew slowly in preparing for today’s Holy Nougat
“The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, over the business of the house of God.” Nehemiah 11:22 ASV
To wholly appreciate the nuance of this series of “begats” in the Nougat, it is worthwhile to note where the roots conclude – among the sons of Asaph, a legitimate Leviticus house among the temple workers. This carried currency at a time when the Israelites, under Nehemiah and Ezra’s leadership, were extremely concerned with purity of lineage. It was sometimes heartbreaking!
Were one to determine acceptance in the faith based on geneneolocial purity, then very few of us would gain access to heaven. (I wonder if this was the convoluted idea in Hitler’s mind?) For, while some may seem to possess dominant/sole traits for a particular race or ethnicity; our ancestors may have done differently.
But thanks be to God the criterion has shifted. For now, we find our pure lineage through the Blood of Jesus flowing in our hearts. For …

We have become the Chosen Generation; no matter whose descendants we are. Now that’s some awesome news!
