Hello
In his song, “Talking Blues”, Reggae pioneer Bob Marley posits;
Cold ground was my bed last night and Rock was my pillow too”.
Now that’s talking blues! (Even if you’re Jacob trying to protect your family and property.) For some of us, talking blues has become so normal that we’ve forgotten that there’s another way. If you or someone you know can relate, here’s today’s Holy Nougat
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. Psalms 126:5 NLT
For several years today’s Holy Nougat stumped me. How does one plant in tears? It’s all about life experiences – talking blues. Cold floors is simply a metaphor for the depravity of life, just like planting tears speaks to reaching out to God during our seasons of flux and stasis. It also (but does not necessarily) includes our willingness to prioritize God’s business EVEN WHEN our lives are in shambles. Talking blues!
The imagery of the Nougat – ‘planting’ and ‘harvesting’ – indicates very clearly that talking blues is a process. Seed-time is a different season from harvest. Our time of talking blues is exactly that – a time. Likewise, there is a time for celebrations. And life, especially our spiritual life, contains balance by including both. What differentiates us is how we approach the blues. That is, whether we give them to God with thanksgiving (Phillipians 4) or wallow in hopelessness.
Having experienced seed time and harvest with God, I personally wish to recommend planting with God. It lightens the season, (although the weight of the wait can be unbearable) and guarantees a great harvest.
Talking Blues? Allow God to transform it to Jazz or a hit song. Be encouraged, I’m praying for your breakthrough.
Shalom and Salam
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
