Hi
The community of Eaux-Vives is situated in Geneva and is home to the famous Jet d’Eau, Geneva’s geyser. Eaux-Vives translates roughly to ‘Living Water’, alluding, I am sure to the fountain situated at its core. Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to consider another source of Living Water.
“Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”” John 4:10 NLT
Towns like Eaux-Vives build their economy around their springs, geysers and/or fountains. They might have bath houses, if it’s a hot spring, and tourists arrive in droves to benefit from the medical treatment offered. Here, the fountain is not natural; yet it remains a historic and beautiful landmark for many who visit Geneva. And that is the main attraction of the town, aside from coffee shops and restaurants. For the neighboring park also affords full view of the fountain.
Knowing the Living Water as we do; can we say honestly that others would be inclined to seek the Sorce based on Who He is? And, perhaps more critically, do our lives point to Christ as the Living Water? Or do we also need a refreshing drink of Living Water?
Lord, come quench this thirsting of our souls, please. And when we are refreshed, refocus our lives so that, like Eaux-Vives, our main attraction is You, drawing others to Your refreshing glory
Amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
