Wouldn’t it be great to have a perfect gardening green thumb? Today’s Holy Nougat™ helps us think it through.
“The gardener answered, ‘Sir, give it one more chance. Leave it another year, and I’ll give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer. Luke 13:8 NLT
For those who aren’t familiar with this Nougat, a few clarifying bits. This is part of a larger chunk of teaching Scripture, where Jesus helps his disciples to understand our call.
Essentially, we’re crafted for God’s purpose and called to fulfill same. When we exist outside our purpose, we are likened to an unfruitful plant which the vineyard owner is about to destroy. But for the intercession of the gardener. Jesus Christ is the Gardener. And He willingly intercedes for that floundering tree.
How do we treat with those who are faltering in their Faith? Are we willing to work with them, educate/nurture or disciple them back to true purpose? Or do we default back to condemnation, criticism and catty comments? What if we are the unfruitful tree? Hmm!
Lord, please grant discernment and compassion toward those unaware of our unfulfilled purpose. Align us to You so we might hear You more clearly and operate accordingly.
