So there she was; screeching like a banshee, exceptionally vocal, yet somewhat inarticulate with regard to defending her stance theologically. It was as though she no longer knew scripture.
The day after, she whispered a prayer about her frustration, and ironically, the scriptures returned. Her sarcastic response, ‘a day late and a dollar short’ was obliterated by the knowledge that that same prayer could have been the game changer the day prior.

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26 NLT
You see, as our Advocate, the Holy Spirit seeks to defend our cause; to protect us from the accusations of the enemy. And sometimes, like Jesus, our best defense is God’s Word. In those cases, it may be the Holy Spirit who restores the Word in our hearts.
There are other times however, when the Holy Spirit really is our teacher. When there’s no theological mind, Sunday school teacher, pastor or anyone else to provide the spiritual insight needed for a situation. Or when all we need is the steady, supportive, still, small voice. {And yes, I remain very aware that the supportive voice of God may not sound the way we would prefer. Regardless, I hold to supportive}
Today I’d like to encourage us too engage the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. Not so much for the coveted, much touted gifts as for the sake of our personal spiritual growth. And when we do, watch to see the change in how we respond to life’s little challenges.
