Hi dears
I’m often fascinated by words and phrases and the ways in which one word may alter meanings of the sentence or phrase. In French, for example, the literal meaning for fainting is falling into the apples. In English, at least Jamaican English, we talk about ‘downgrow’, which refers to retarding of one’s development. There’s also ‘tan ruddy’, which means keep strong or stay put. I have heard of young loves being led by the nose (being easily manipulated), but today’s Holy Nougat has a different phrase in regard to being led. Take a look
“Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” Psalms 25:5 NLT
Rather than being led by the nose, we are offered the golden opportunity to be led by God’s truth. And, while some would say that believers are most definitely manipulated, being guided by God’s Truth is vital to our spiritual growth. We should adhere as though our life depends on it; for sometimes it does.
We have several biblical examples, Peter’s jail break and Hagar’s return to Sara. And while those may seem extreme, being led by God’s Truth is a spiritual discipline worth developing.
God’s Truth originates in God’s Word, in a literal sense as well as figuratively. When God spoke, the Created order shifted to God’s bidding. God said, let there be … and it was. What God spoke immediately became truth. Being led by God’s Truth suggests therefore that we can ‘become’ at God’s bidding. Isn’t it marvelous to know that in following God’s Truth, our times and seasons might shift?
Jesus Christ’s promise to the disciples also mentioned Truth. However, the context was slightly different. He said the Spirit of Truth would teach, comfort and guide (John 16:13) us – which aligns with the psalmist’s request. So being led by God’s Truth is also about yielding to God’s Spirit. Not always easy, but definitely a life-saver and a life-changer!
Additionally, Jesus Christ refers to Himself as Truth (John 14:6). And it is Through Him that we find our way TO God and all God has in store for us. Previously, Jesus told them that following His teachings would lead them to knowledge of all truth which would release them from bondage to the law ([of sin and death] John 8:32). I believe that the Truth we follow in the Christian path takes us into Full experience of our Triune God. For, word spoken includes breath – the Breath of God is God’s Spirit; Who leads us into Truth. God’s Truth. Jesus is also the Word in living form (John 1:1), thus He is also God’s Truth Unlocked and Revealed. And as Creator Who speaks into existence; God is Ultimate Truth. Ultimate Truth, Breathed into us, Unlocked and Revealed by faith.
Awesomeness!
Pure joy!
Absolute Hope.
Amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
